Michele Bachmann – Can she be Repulican party’s answer to Obama in 2012 ?

I did want to pen my thoughts immediately after Iowa straw poll results, but couldn’t do it due to other committments. But what a day Michele had in Ames,Iowa on Aug 13th. She was confident right from the day she jumped into the presidential bid when she announced it in New Hampshire. She has grown with confidence amidst personal attacks on her ability to lead the nation due to her ongoing treatment to migraines..I’m a regular listener to progressive radion talk show which is a hard core Liberal progressive democratic one where likes of Stephanie Miller, Norman Goldman,Thom Hardman do a brutal attack on the conservative republicans. Michele the most victim in the show, may be due to her growing popularity.

Michele had to face the criticism from her party colleagues as well, none other than Tim Pawlenty another candidate for 2012 raising her medical problems has packed his bag now abondoning his dreams to conquer white house in 2012 election. He reportedly have said, “We needed a boost from Ames that didn’t happen. The pathway forward for me doesn’t really exist and so we’re going to end the campaign,” He was the most outspoken and colorful candidate who could attract people’s attention. Unfortunately he focussed more on others negatives than his positives !!

Trying to shift the focus from Michele’s success on saturday, Rick Perry announced his bid for 2012 by attacking Obama for economic downgrade and broken washington. He continued, “The fact is for nearly three years President Obama has been downgrading American jobs. He’s been downgrading our standing in the world. He’s been downgrading our financial stability. He’s been downgrading our confidence, and downgrading the hope for a better future for our children.”

Perry is seen as one of the few Republican candidates who can unite disparate elements of the Republican coalition. He has the backing of many supporters of the small government, low tax tea party movement, and is popular among social conservatives for his opposition to abortion and gay rights.

It’s gonna be very interesting in coming days as Perry can go head-to-head with Romney on the issue of job creation, a key issue in the upcoming campaign. Through three terms as Texas governor, Perry has overseen significant job growth in his state while working to keep taxes low. Romney has touted his extensive background as a businessman to persuade voters he can turn the economy around. Michele’s popularity on the other hand is growing rapidly..Republican caucus hope they don’t see split of political base due to these heavy weights..Not to ignore Ron paul who stood second in straw poll !!

Back to Michele,This straw poll win is a big boost to her and team’s confidence..Even though she managed to get 28% of the 17000 votes casted( not a majority), still managed to send a strong signal to party establishment that she is the frontrunner for party’s nomination for 2012.
She immediately said after the win “We are going to make Barack Obama a one-term president,” This is the very first step toward taking back the White House. No one had taken Michele seriously until she decided to run for president earlier this year, was best known for her controversial comment that Barack Obama might hold “anti-American views”..No one now questions that Bachmann belongs in the first tier of candidates along with former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry. The next steps are interesting as These 3 are poised to be front runners for republican nominations. Mitt Romney is still the favourite but with a slender margin. All eyes are now on the Sep 7th debate in Reagan Library in simi valley,CA.
